What to Expect If You Enroll In a Clinical Trial at Our Site?
What is Clinical Research?
In simple terms, clinical research involves studies that investigate how to prevent, diagnose, or treat diseases and health conditions in humans. If you're considering participating in a clinical research study, here's what you can generally expect:

#1 Once you contact the site to express your interest in participating in a research study, one of our research coordinators will contact you to find a study that could be a good match given your condition and the study requirements.

#2 Next you will be scheduled for a screening period, this is a visit like what you would do for an annual follow up with your doctor but with assessments specific to the study. This visit starts with the review of the Informed Consent Form (ICF), a document that explains the study , the length, the assessments, the investigational product, among all other aspects of the studies. A series of assessments like medical history documentation, vital signs collection, electrocardiogram, physical exam, blood work, maybe some questionnaires, among many other assessments depending on the specific study. When all the assessments have been resulted and have been reviewed by the investigator, if you are found eligible to participate by the study investigator (study doctor) you will then be scheduled to come back for what it is called an enrollment visit, sometimes called Day 1.

#3 If eligible to be enrolled, the Day 1 visit is usually a longer visit, there are more assessments, and this day is likely the day you will take the study therapy for the first time. You will be in the care of a whole research team, the study doctor, study coordinators, and study nurses. Depending on the study you might have to stay for an observation period after the administration of the study medication and maybe some safety assessments. After this visit , the next study visits will be scheduled according to the study and some questionaries might need to be completed in between visits and the research team will be in touch with you all the way until the end of the study.

#4 The purpose of your study participation is to find more information on the studies medication, side effects, metabolism, contraindications, etc. One important fact, research is completely voluntary, you can withdraw from the study at any time and with no reasons give. The site and the study doctor will always encourage you to continue in the study until the end, if possible, to ensure the study collects all necessary data, but your well-being and decision is our priority.
